This was an opportunity for all challengers to complete their final checks before departure. All three groups worked with their expedition leaders and school leaders to make sure all kit was packed and group kit was shared out equally.  Group roles were assigned, budget sheet looked at, accommodation looked at, trek discussed, project discussed.  All part of the challenges that lie ahead for our thirty two students.

November 2017

Well done to   a number of  World Challenge   Post 16 Students who delivered assemblies   all week   to all year groups at Lutterworth College. The theme of the assembly  was challenge  . The students were able to give an account of what they are going to do on their World Challenge expedition in India, why they are going and how they are raising the money. They shared a number of challenging experiences that they believe they will have whilst on their expedition.

There have been some fantastic fundraising events so far and also some great ideas.

·         Curry nights and quizzes are very popular and generate a good amount of money.
·         Paper Christmas trees were sold last year and proved to be popular.
·         A fashion evening at the college is in the pipeline.

·         There will also be a number of College open evenings and parents evening which will require refreshments to be sold.

September 2017

All three groups embarked on a fantastic two day training expedition at Cannock Chase.  We met our three World Challenge Expedition Leaders who were a wealth of knowledge.  It was great being in their company and learning so much.  The students engaged fully in this weekend and used it to prepare themselves as much as possible for the ‘life changing experience’ that lies ahead.  It is now only less than 10 months before departure.  By the way, all groups kept to budget and it didn’t seem to compromise the equality of food! Who’d of thought!

August 2017

It was great to see all of our Team India 2018 students land back at Lutterworth College.  This meeting was a shock to the system – due to students embarking on a challenging trek while on expedition, they needed to be reminded to the fitness levels needed to be of a good level.  So, only something for it!!!!!  The dreaded 12 minute Cooper run!  Well done to all for giving it your best.  You now have a base level of fitness to develop between now and July 2018.

The second part of the session was to create a group food menu for the upcoming two day training expedition at Cannock Chase.  Each group had the challenge of spending £3pp and would be reimbursed for this amount.  Will they keep to budget.  We will see!

April 2017

Each of the three groups participated in an itinerary planning session.  Some big decisions were made.  Length of treks and community projects were decided.  Travel destinations were also decided with all groups deciding to travel further North to experience the sights of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.  However, each group has decided on a different journeying experience to each other.  Travel by bus, train and plane were all discussed.  There will be some stories to share, that is for sure!  Finally, groups decided on R&R activities(Rest and Relaxation).  Yoga at a beach resort was mentioned on one itinerary.  What a way to relax and reflect.  Each group then presented back to their parents.

March 2017

Students have now out themselves into expedition groups and have been issued with their ‘World Challenge T-Shirts.  Whoop Whoop!  They now have a group identity.  The group dynamics so far look good.  Next up is the itinerary planning meeting.  How will each group manage themselves in order to agree on the same itinerary?  Will some want to visit the Sloth sanctuary and others the Wild Elephant sanctuary?  Will some want to participate in a longer trek and the others the shorter trek?  Will some want to participate in a longer community project than the others?  How will they decide?
